The Buckinghamshire Building Society was originally formed at the turn of the last century in 1907. It was founded at the time in a small village in the South East of Buckinghamshire called Chalfont St Giles by a group of local businessmen. As such it was first named the Chalfont and District Permanent Building Society and it wasn’t until 1961 when it was renamed to become known as the Buckinghamshire Building Society.
The 1980s saw the Buckinghamshire Building Society expand to incorporate branch number two in neighbouring town, Chalfont St Peter.
The society’s fortune saw its assets grow from £1m in 1960 to well over £130m in 2006.
To this day, The Buckingham Building Society has no external shareholders to pay and as such they can dedicate all their resources in providing value for both their existing and new members. They offer competitive borrowing and savings products for all their members.
The Buckinghamshire Building Society is authorised and regulated by the financial services authority. They continue to help their local community by adding their individual support to various local events in the area.
